My humble pie is here. At least I have a large mug of tea to wash it down with.
So I think I’ve finally found all the errata in the Ladylike Lace Gloves pattern, and cannot believe how many problems I found. Viv wandered over at one point and looked at the assorted sheets of graph paper, post-it notes and pencils, and asked me why I hadn’t just, you know, gotten it right before it went to the publisher.
“I…I don’t know. And I was working with a tech editor! Who I think maybe trusted me, and it turns out the trust was misplaced.”
“How hard can this be, sweetie? You’ve managed to write error-free patterns before.”
“Maybe I should get drunk before proofreading. At least I’d have an explanation. Really, my goals in life did not include ‘get published in popular book, have multiple errors’.”
“There’s a bottle of vodka in the freezer.”
At least that’s done now (oh, I really hope so). I’ve got kind of a lot going on right now (I refer to my current situation as either A Great Opportunity for Personal Growth or The Country Song That Used To Belong To Bob But He’s On Vacation This Week). There’s good stuff too, and I’ll be posting about it when my computer comes back from SuperGeeks…well, if it’s running and I haven’t lost all my data, anyway.
As a sort of penance, I’m finally updating the free patterns section, some of which are getting moved over from the old blog and some of which were drafts saved in the old blog that I never got around to posting.
